  It was an early and rainy morning when my son and I went to the Indian store.The store was still closed when we arrived, so I let my son sit on the yellow stairs of an old building near the store. He was still yawning, and his eyes were drowsy. We'd left the house too early. It took a few minutes before I saw people arriving and then sitting in front of some building next to the Indian store. We walked to the banana store and asked the seller if he knew what time the store would be open. He told me it would be open soon, as the men sitting next to the store were the crew. It took half an hour before the store opened; they open at eight in the morning. At last, we entered the store. It is small, but enough to move around and choose. There are enough crews to assist customers. The smell of the different spices is really aromatic, as I expected. The boxes of spices are piled up and organized. When I got married, my husband and I were both young and still students. I only asked for a small amount for dowry, trying to please Allah and to prove to my husband that he married a simple woman who would be grateful to him and would not cause him hardship. Dowry doesn’t have a limit or minimum measure; you can ask how much you want, but it’s encouraged to reduce it to make marriage easy. If you are about to get married, your dowry will attest to your intention for this marriage. So, ask yourself, What is your intention? Are you doing it to please Allah? Don’t get me wrong; you have all your rights to ask for the amount that you want, but let’s not forget that we are here to please Allah. And if you think you will lose your share of this world if you don’t ask for a large sum of dowry, you’re wrong.   When I was a kid, my grandma would only let us watch TV for a short time. But now, everyone has difficulty controlling their kids by using gadgets.  We all get tired sometimes, and the only resolution that we see is to hand them over a gadget and make them watch. However, in all things, there is always a balance, and as a mother of a toddler, I learned that discipline is very important to start at a young age. When I say discipline, it doesn’t mean that I need to hurt my kid but to talk to him and let him cry if he can’t get what he wants. I don’t stress over the noise of crying; I just tell my son that he can cry but not too loud because someone is sleeping and we don’t want to disturb them. I praise and reward him whenever he does something good and shows patience, and I always remind him of this phrase that I learned from Omar and Hana: "If you are upset, you should try to be patient because when we are patient, Allah will be pleased."   I never thought I would be the mother of a boy who is brave to protect his imaginary baby, loves to cuddle with the cat, and will spread cookies on the floor because he wants to feed the ants. Every morning, he walks with me to the market and greets everyone; he is a peacemaker between his friends, he loves to say thank you and say Insha'Allah when he wants to go to a toy shop.   My husband is tall, dark, and handsome. He thinks like a philosopher, and his speech is intimidating yet inspiring. It was not hard to fall in love with him. However, relationships outside of marriage were not an option. It was a long night of uncertainty, but before the night ended, I decided to ask him to marry me.     Are there any times when you feel your faith is weak? Or do you find yourself not performing Salah or wearing your hijab anymore? I asked myself once, "Why?"  In this world full of temptation, hardship, and enjoyment, we tend to forget who we really are, our purpose, and that Allah swt is watching us.
