How to get OMA certificate in Manila?

Assalamualaykum! Today, I will be sharing how to get a "Certificate of Muslim Filipino Tribal Membership" and a "Certificate of Confirmation of Conversion to Islam," also known as an OMA Certificate.

When I converted to Islam, I didn't have any idea about the OMA certificate until I decided to go to Saudi Arabia; that's the only time I discovered that I needed it for visa stamping.

I've written this because not everyone knows where to go or how to get it.
The good news is that the OMA certificate is completely free! and you can have it in just 30 minutes. Now, let me guide you step-by-step on how to get it.

NoteThe policy and process might change, as I have written this 2017 Comment down below if you have experienced a new policy; it will be very helpful to others.

Let's make sure first that you have all the requirements that you need.

For born Muslims;
a xerox copy of Aqeeqa
-xerox copy of passport
- 1 piece of 2x2 picture

For Converts;
-A photocopy of the Certificate of Conversion
-xerox copy of passport
- 1 piece of 2x2 picture

Step 1: Make your intention and ask Allah ta'ala to bless you and help you on doing this task.

Step 2. Go inside, tell the woman at the front desk that you want to request an OMA certificate, and she's going to ask you for the requirements. Submit it, and she will return it to you, including a form.

Step 3: Fill out the form and submit it to Table 5 in the next room.

Step 4: Wait for your name to be called for the interview. (Questions are easy; don't panic!)

Step 5. After the interview, submit your papers to Table 6 for recording. (For converts, keep an eye on your paper and make sure it will be recorded in a minute. Due to the fact that born Muslims are too many and converts are only a few and each one has a different recording book, the old lady always chose to record the born Muslims first. This is not discrimination; it is just what is easy for her. So be patient. You can ask her to prioritize your paper; that's what I did.

Step 6. Wait for your name to be called for a photograph.

Step 7. Wait for your certificate to be printed out. For born Muslims, you are already done at this point. Just make sure that every detail in your certificate is correct; if not, ask the guy at table 8 for a correction.

Step 8. For converts, wait for your certificate, then go to tables two and one for your certificate to be signed by officers. There you are; you are now legally a Muslim Say "Alhamdulillah". Then you can go home now.

Disclaimer: I do not work for NCMF; this process might change. I only shared my experience.

Address of the NCMF( National Commission of Muslim Affairs)

79 Jocfer Annex Building, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, 1121, Metro Manila, Quezon City, Metro Manila
Tel. no. 02 8952-6420

NOTE: If you look at the Google map, it says that there's an NCMF office at Ortigas. I went there, and it's only a vacant lot. So don't waste your time and energy.

Beware of a Scammer: Because we are all in a hurry, we tend to be conceive by scammers. Yes, there's a scammer. They will ask for a lot of money to process your Certificate of Conversion. Remember that your signature is needed for the certificate; be safe and process your paper in the office, not online.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your inquiries.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if I converted abroad and have a conversion certificate? Can I use that to get an OMA certificate? As far as I know, you still need to get a conversion certificate from here in the Philippines, as the National Commission wants to know our census.

2. Where can I get a certificate of conversion to Islam? You can process it at the nearest mosque from your home.

IMPORTANT: Certificate of Conversion to Islam, and OMA(CERTIFICATE OF CONFIRMATION OF CONVERSION TO ISLAM) are two different things; please do not get confused.
The certificate of conversion to Islam is the requirement to get the OMA(Certificate of Confirmation of Conversion to Islam)

You can get a Certificate of Conversion to Islam in a mosque or masjid;

And for the OMA (Certification of Confirmation of Conversion to Islam), you can get this at the NCMF.

3. What are the requirements to get a Certificate of Conversion to Islam? 1 valid I.D.

4. How long before you can get your conversion certificate? It will take a month, as it will be coming from Mindanao.

5. Where can I get OMA? in NCMF

6. How long before you can get your OMA (Certificate of Confirmation of Conversion to Islam)? It will only take an hour.

7. What is the use of OMA? Why should I get this? You need this for visa stamping and biometrics.

8. Do I need to renew my Oma certificate?
Yes, only if you need it again for visa stamping. Its validity is one year. Same requirements.

If didn't reply as soon as possible, you could always come back to this site. I might answer it after a few months or days. Gmail didn't notify me for a month, which is why I missed answering some questions in the comment section. I am very sorry, and I hope you'll understand. May Allah help us, and I ask him to bring me its benefits during my lifetime and after my death. May those who read this and those who share it also benefit from it.

  18. As-salamu alaykum sis Ameena. I have accepted Islam few years back. Unfortunately, di pa po ako marunong magdasal at wala pa ako kabisadong Surah. I have been doing fasting every
    Ramadan for the past years and hindi na po ako kumakain ng pork since i accepted Islam. I dont eat chicken and beef from shops unless its Halal.

The Essential Role of a Muslim Woman in Society

I grew up in a small town where you’ll find mansions that were built at the time of the Spanish Colonial. These ancestral houses are captivating and still standing firm like the Mount Makiling that you’ll get a glimpse of from our balcony. This is my hometown where my grandmother raised me. My grandmother got married at a very young age to an older man who came from a well-off family. She was illiterate and could only write her name for signing legal papers. She sacrificed her early age to look after her younger siblings, which caused her not to attend school. But despite this, she is contemplative, selfless, affectionate, and a loving daughter. Even with her husband's problematic habits and age difference, she remained committed to being a dutiful wife. She neither disrespected her husband nor rebelled against him. Her passion for keeping the house tidy, and cooking delicious dishes are among her skills to please my grandfather, and I admire her for that. "Men are in charge o
